With more than 425,000 apps in the App Store and 200,000 in the Android Market, mobile apps are an unbelievably huge market, but the latest Nielsen report shows that mobile games prevail over the other app categories.
The report shows that users are more willing to pay greater amounts for gaming apps than any other apps. Out of all of the users who pay for apps, 93 percent said they will pay for a game. Additionally, 64 percent of users who downloaded an app over the last 30 days have downloaded at least one game.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Since the debut of Angry Birds, Rovio’s popular projectile puzzle game, gamers and users are constantly sampling new games, hoping to discover the next big hit. Just last month, Angry Birds surpassed 250 million downloads to become one of the most popular games of all-time.
